Roof starting

The weather has held out so far which is good. In the past two week we've seen the builders complete the frame and roof trusses and brace it all. The wrap went onto the outside of the frame and fascia boards went up, we've chosen a cream colour. Some of the gutters also started to go on. We've chosen the colour monument, which is nearly black. By the 19th of April we saw the first of the windows go in as well.

This is where the front door will be.
There is going to be two rendered columns either side.

On Monday the roof got started, but all this week it has been raining on and off so that slowed the process down a bit.The rest of the windows were put in on Monday as well.

Roof Trusses

We continued to see the frame being completed and by the 9th of April the builders pretty much had most of the roof trusses up and it started to really feel like a house!

We noticed that the pipe for the toilet was put where the spa bath is supposed to be and spoke to the builder, apparently the plumber that put it in has never put a pipe in the wrong place before and although it is a problem, it is fixable! We also had to let them know that we had wanted a roller door on the back of the garage and the frame only has a place for a normal door so that was going to be changed too.

In the mean time we have been looking at the taps, toilets etc that we were included in our quote and we decided we would like to have better quality ones. The builder was happy to give us a credit for them and for us to get our own. We ended up getting what we wanted and it only cost $900 more which we thought was pretty good.

Finally, Progress!

We finally saw some progress on the 27th of March. We went out to feed our sheep that we've got on the back half of the block and saw that the builders had put in 4 large posts where the back of the deck is going to finish.

We were told once the Easter week-end was over that the frame was going to go up. There were a few things we wanted to buy ourselves so we went to Melbourne over Easter and bought the front door, dishwasher and rangehood. We had already bought the oven and cook-top. They started Tuesday morning and by Wednesday night we could see exactly what size all the rooms are going to be. The frames were ready made but we were still amazed how fast they went up.
